The National Charter for Church Youth Workers is about helping churches reach the highest standards in the way they employ a paid and support volunteer youth workers.
Encouraged, inspired, enthusiastic and spiritually-alive youth workers do better youth work. And young people need as much of that as possible!
The Charter is being run across all denominations and churches.
The Charter is not profit-making, and only charges a small administration fee to cover basic costs.
The Charter is all about making a positive difference to churches, to youth workers and, above all, to young people.
The National Charter for church youth workers is a set of seven promises churches make about the about the practices and principles they will use in employing a youth worker:
- We will pray and support
- We will give space for retreat and reflection
- We will provide ongoing training and development
- We will give a full day of rest each week
- We will share responsibility
- We will strive to be an excellent employer
- We will celebrate and appreciate
There are a wide range of resources that are available to assist churches regarding the employment of youth workers
