Tearfund's ten-year vision is to see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches.
They take a comprehensive approach to releasing people from poverty, working through a network of local church partners to bring about truly sustainable change. With church-based partners around the world, they're focusing on five broad issues: defeating disease, preparing for and responding to disasters, campaigning for economic justice and enabling fair trade, working for a sustainable environment and providing basic services.
Tearfund don't make distinctions - they give aid where it's needed, not on the basis of race, creed, nationality or gender. Their aim is to tackle poverty with justice and compassion; to empower poor people and restore communities.
Tearfund's youth & student section of the website has great ideas, games and resources both for young people and youth leaders.
