Want to organise a day treat for your youth group on the Grand Union Canal? Need a facility for meetings or conferences? Looking at a venue for your weekend / week long youth residential.
ReachOut Plus exists to create opportunities that change people's lives. It does this by offering resources for use by youth, voluntary and community groups, particularly ensuring access for people with special needs and physical disabilities. ReachOut Plus (ROP) operates a small fleet of canal boats based on the Grand Union Canal near Hemel Hempstead and The Chellington Centre in North Bedfordshire, providing residential accommodation for a wide range of groups.
ROP (which then stood for Reach Out Projects) grew out of the Diocesan Youth Service and was, until September 2008 overseen by the Diocesan Youth Officer. It has been around for over 25 years and has constantly worked to meet the needs of young people and those with special needs and disabilities. Under its new director things are changing as ROP gears up to ensure its relevance for the current needs, whilst also ensuring that those who have used the resources over the years are still served to the same high standard. As part of the relationship that existed the Enable Holiday programme was developed as a joint project. The programme continues to operate though now fully run by ROP. Details can be found under our Opportunities section as there is always a need for volunteers, and is a great way for anyone aged 16+ to make a contribution to the lives of others.
