Food is an important part of work with children and young people; making sure that it is prepared and served safely is not only important but requires that you meet food safety regulation.
Food Hygiene can be a nightmare for the average youth leader; apologies, this guideline doesn't give you an easy way through the system but does attempt to make clear what your responsibilities are. The bottom line is that poor food hygiene can lead to serious illness in those who consume the food. No one wants that, so starting from the right place is always good. The good news is that many churches have worked this out and have some ladies who know all about it, so don't just read the guideline, check out around the church or local community, do you have a Mother's Union in the Church, or Women's Institute in the community. They are the sort of people to help you get your head round all this stuff!
