AMAZE is the first ever professional body for Christian youth and children's workers in the UK, recognising the key role they play and giving them protection, support and the benefits enjoyed by other established professions. Churches and individuals can become members of AMAZE and receive support and advice on both the employment of workers as well as guidelines for best practice.
We are, as the Diocesan Youth Service, a member of AMAZE, the Association of Christian Youth & Childrens Workers. Through their website and manuals they offer guidelines on best practice for running youth and children's work as well for the employment of workers. Check them out here.
As part of their work, and in partnership with others "We love our youthworker!" has been launched. It is a campaign to encourage churches to think about the way they employ a full time worker. It's based on a set of seven promises that churches commit to follow. We believe that keeping full time workers positive, productive, and living balanced lives makes for great youthwork. And that's an important step towards building God's kingdom among young people. Churches who sign up to the Charter gain a set of benefits and can expect to attract the very best youth workers in the UK.
You can get involved by visiting the website www.weloveouryouthworker.org.uk. Here you can find out more about it, sign up and apply for accreditation.
We believe this campaign can make a huge difference to churches and youth workers, and so be of immense benefit to the young people we work with.
