A Last Word!

Dave's last musing as he leaves to become Head of Youth Work for Central Herts YMCA...

Well, tonight I finish work as a Youth Officer and head for the YMCA. After 15 years some are saying it is the end of an era, but actually it's just the next stage of the journey for me and the youth service. I am pleased to say that things are in motion to find a new DYO, so hopefully someone will be in place by September. Please pray for those involved in making the choices; very excitied that young people and youth workers are involved this time round. Also pray for those who feel God calling them to apply, that the right person comes and builds on what we have done over the past years. It is an exciting time as we have young people on Diocesan Synod and hopefully the participation of young people coming up the agenda.

I could ramble on for ages but want to say a couple of things.

Firstly THANK YOU to all the youth workers and leaders out in the diocese who week in week out work with and for young people, so often your work is taken for granted, but it does make a difference and, if like me, as you leave you'll find out just how many people have been touched by your ministry.

Secondly, I have tried to be true to myself in my work, and thankfully people have valued that. Stolen from someone else but a good daily prayer is "Today, Lord help me to be true to You and true to myself"

Finally, let's continue to work to help young people realise that it is all about a relationship with a God who loves us beyond our understanding. It's not about church or power or the stuff that often blocks us and gets in the way. It is about our relationship with God and then with each other in our community. That's why the Bishop's Living God's Love is getting us back to basics - deeper into God, transforming communities and making new disciples.

God bless you as you grow in Christ and serve him wherever you are and whatever age you are.

Yours

Dave

Hi Dave

It’s sad to see you go, especially after all the amazing hard work and effect you’ve put in over the years! I am sure you will do brilliantly in your new post and help to move them forward. I’ll be thinking/praying for you- not that you need it because your awesome at what you do!
Hope to still work with you again on something,
All the Best
God Bless
